About the Board
The GRNC Board of Directors is responsible for the long-term sustainability of the organization as well as making sure our actions are aligned with our organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
Our Board plays an important role in bringing together the many different voices that make up our community.
Board recruitment happens twice a year, in the Winter and Summer seasons.
What You Gain as a Board Member of GRNC
Be engaged with artists and advocates who share values of gender equality, youth power and political education.
Direct community connections to the many roots of a respected 18 year old organization and global connections through the Girls Rock Alliance network.
Ability to influence the communal decision making, non-hierarchical structure of GRNC and be a key change maker to grow this organization.
Support youth with marginalized gender identities in holding their own expressive power and autonomy.
Commitments of being a GRNC Board Member
Serve on the board for two years
Spend 4-15 hrs per month on Girls Rock NC
Check and reply to emails in a timely manner
Attend quarterly zoom board meetings
Take shared responsibility to keep Girls Rock NC financially stable
Communicate if your capacity changes
Join one board team and one committee team
Offer advice to keep Girls Rock NC aligned with their mission and values
Board Members must be at least 16 years of age.
Board positions are open to all who do not identify as a cisgender man.
Joining the board does not require any financial contribution.
You do not have to live in North Carolina to join.
